Richard travels to Ireland to speak to Mike Keegan. Originally from Manchester Mike emigrated to the west if Ireland in 1990. After acquiring some land there he quickly became self sufficient in growing food for himself and his family. Mike has also travelled to parts of Russia to see how various communities there are living off the land in Kins settlements. Mainstream media occasionally produce programmes or write articles about living off grid, but usually either subtly ridicule the idea or portray it the wrong way without providing any discussion about why this way of living could be very beneficial. By comparing modern day living with the way Mike has chosen to live his life brings about a realisation of just how far removed from nature we have become. Is this deliberate? Is mankind being kept away from nature and is Man himself being lead into a world of falsehood, materialism and toxic manufactured realities?
