Woman who 'posted Al Qaeda printer bombs' arrested in Yemen as David Cameron says device could have blown jet out of sky

A woman accused of posting two printer bombs found on board cargo planes in the UK and Dubai has been arrested in Yemen.

Investigators said the woman was detained as part of a manhunt for a number of suspects believed to have used forged documents and ID cards that played a role in the plot that was thwarted yesterday.

Yemeni officials this evening said the suspects are believed to have links to Al Qaeda's faction in Yemen.

Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh said the U.S. and the United Arab Emirates had provided him with information that helped identify the woman as a suspect.

He said security forces had surrounded a house in the capital city of Sanaa that was believed to be holding the woman. A security official later confirmed the woman had been arrested.
Investigators in Yemen confirmed they traced the woman through a telephone number left with courier company UPS. They are also searching for several accomplices linked to Al Qaeda.

Tonight's developments came as David Cameron said the explosive device found hidden in a printer cartridge on a cargo plane at East Midlands Airport was apparently designed to blow the aircraft out of the sky.

THREAT FROM YEMEN GROWING

Fear have been growing rapidly over the terror threat posed to the West by Islamic fundamentalists based in Yemen.
Gordon Brown warned in January that the Middle Eastern country represented a growing 'regional and global threat' following the failed bomb attack on a U.S. plane over Detroit on Christmas Day last year.
Yemen-based group 'Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula' is now considered the most dangerous strand of the terror organisation outside Pakistan and Afghanistan.
At its head is the preacher Anwar Al Awlaki, above, who is thought to have influenced both the Detroit bomber Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab and the 9/11 terrorists.
MI6 say he is urging violent attacks against the UK and the US describes him as 'probably terrorist Number One.'
Mutallab, who is accused of trying to blow up a jet over Detroit on Christmas Day with explosives hidden in his underwear, is thought to have been tutored in Yemen.

Mohammed al-Shaibah, Air Cargo Director for Yemenia Airways said to Yemen Post, "No UPS cargo plane left Yemeni lands over the land 48 hours. These accusations are false and baseless."

He added, "No UPS or DHL cargo packages heading to Chicago through Yemen took place in the last 48 hours as well."

"All packages are checked very carefully in Yemen, and there is no evidence to prove that this package came through Yemen."

CNN reported the suspicious package, which contained a "manipulated" toner cartridge, tested negative for explosive material, the source said, but it led to heightened inspection of arriving cargo flights in Newark, New Jersey, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a UPS truck in New York.

UAE rejects US claims on Flight 201

The United Arab Emirates' Civil Aviation Authority has rejected claims that a US-bound Emirates' flight from Dubai contained "suspicious" parcels from Yemen.

"The Emirates plane that arrived today in the United States from Dubai did not contain any packages from Yemen," the official Emirati WAM news agency quoted an unnamed source with the country's civil aviation body as saying.

North American military agency caused a media hype after it reported the suspicious flight.

Meanwhile, the US president hinted at boosting the US military role in Yemen following reports about the "suspicious packages."

Yemen cargo bomb plot: female student arrested

A female engineering student has been arrested in Yemen on suspicion of posting the packages containing bombs found on two cargo jets in Dubai and Britain.

Last month, Jonathan Evans, the director general of MI5, warned in a speech that his organisation had seen a "surge" in Yemen-related case work over the past 12 months.

A woman has been arrested and 24 more suspect packages have been seized in Yemen after two parcel bombs were discovered on planes in Britain and Dubai.

"Firstly, on Thursday the head of MI6 makes his lying speech, then Friday comes.

The "bombs" that were found on Friday are, IN MY OPINION, dummies planted by U.S. and British secret services and governments to twist the citizen's of those countries thoughts into believing the "terrorist" threat is alive and kicking.

Both governments are intent on maintaining the flow of arms to the military and foreign nations to bring in revenue and keep jobs in that murky sector. DON'T BELIEVE A WORD THEY'RE SAYING!"

"Here in the USA, our senator Feinstein from California found that we spend 80 billion a year on intelligence and said that needs to be cut. That was the day before this happened. Talk about bad timing not to mention bad policy. People start to feel safer as time goes by without any incidents. We should not be so easily fooled."

It must seem at least a little odd to most that 2 days after MI6 put their chief on national TV to explain the role of SIS we get a bomb plot prevented by SIS.

I mean what was the point of broadcasting that presentation by Mr Sawyer ?
And why right now ?......I noticed he put some focus on Iran,my guess is that MI6 are going to recieve info coming out of Iran as an excuse to invade/attack, they want us to trust MI6/Mr Sawyer,so they stuck him on TV so we can get to know him.

It stinks DS.

Time will prove it too. Remember the Underpant bomber? The CIA Allowed him - sorry, - put him on board that plane? One can only imagine what will eventually be revealed about the levels of bullshit in this 'story'.

It will not matter to the cattle mind you. The MSM have done their job once again (24-fucking hours straight today) When Yemen (actually it is done if you have followed since Xmas) Is eventually invaded by the U.S. and the UK, the sheep will be - as we know - Predictively programmed...

I wonder if Yemen will soon acquire a nuclear or biological threat to go along with the new terror franchise that has opened next to Marks and Spencer's on the high street in downtown Sana?

Strange old story we were given concerning how the bombs were found,we are told that the bomb maker is in regular contact with one of America,s most wanted now in hiding in Yemen.

How do they know that ? If they did know that then they would be able to locate him.

Also the window of oppertunity to find the bombs was only a few hours, considering that active cells only consist of 2,3 or 4 persons then the 'agent' must have had to have been in the know right up to the time the package left the ground ie part of that cell, but we are told that he only gave himself up 1 month ago.

Can you see the holes in this story we have been given ?

BIN LADEN IN YEMEN...

Expert points to strong evidence of Bin Laden presence in country
Al Qaida expert tells Gulf News he has no doubts that wanted Al Qaida leader Osama Bin Laden either visited Yemen or is actually based there.

"Yemen has become the base for Al Qaida organisation in the Arabian peninsula" according to Abdul Bari Atwan, the editor in chief of the London-based newspaper Al Quds Al Arabi and an expert on Al Qaida being one of the few journalists to have spent time with Osama Bin Laden.

"I have no doubts that Osama either visited Yemen or is actually based there," Atwan told Gulf News in an interview.

"When I met him in Tora Bora [in November 1996] I asked him, 'One of these days you will be kicked out of Afghanistan like you were from Sudan. Have you considered an alternative?' His answer was Yemen because 'its mountains are like Tora Bora's and the country will embrace me and will be warm towards me'."

Atwan says he was amazed then that one of Bin Laden's security advisors, who was part of his entourage had asked him to omit this piece of information from his writings because Bin Laden shouldn't reveal his future plans.

Another incident which confirms this, Atwan says, is when he was visited by Ahmad Bin Jashe, a Yemeni tribal chief, in his London office who told him that Bin Laden made contact with him and sent an envoy to explore the possibilities of Bin Laden moving to Yemen-prior to 9/11.

What's interesting, Atwan maintains, is that six months before 9/11, Bin Laden sent an envoy to Yemen to find him a bride and indeed he married Amal Al Sada'a (from Ta'az) and she delivered a baby girl post 9/11.

Bin Laden's relation with Yemen is very strong. Not only is Hadramout his ancestral home but also most of his entourage were from Yemen (including his driver, chef, body guards...).

Sky News knows the identity of the man accused of plotting a terror attack on British soil.

ome Secretary Theresa May announced the suspect had been seized during her first major speech on counter-terrorism.

He is alleged to be a member of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (Aqap) - the group blamed for last week's cargo plane bomb plot that sparked a global terror alert.
The suspect was arrested in the UK in February and faces several charges relating to terror plots.

The alleged offences are said to have occurred over a four-year period.
Although Sky knows who he is and the nature of the allegations against him, we are not legally allowed to reveal his identity.

He is currently going through the judicial process and is expected to come to trial next year.
Mrs May announced his arrest days after the discovery of the explosives found on two planes in the UK and Dubai.

Earlier this week, she announced new security measures on the transfer of cargo through the UK.

Mrs May said: "An AQAP (al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula) associate was arrested here earlier this year.
