I dont sleep often, my brain wont shut down. It plans events long before they are needed, & consequently I dont sleep. Ive tried everything, even a stiff one !! Bacardi & Coke I meant.

LOL!
I know you don't drink, but would you consider as Desdichado said a whiskey before bed? I get less hangover with whiskey than with anything else- just one large one wont give you bad side effects-only good ones :)

When I can't sleep I try to tune into my third eye and look at the colours and pulsations I find which form into shapes and faces. I then spin my energy centres independently each one in turn- that is if I can get the quiet to focus- if there is no snoring! lol It's my time with no disturbance from everyday life- I have to push away from that and think nothing, just be and seek levels of pure vibration. Unfortunately I end up tuning into all the electromagnetic buzz- need a hobbit hole in the country to escape to.

I'll tell you what works for me sometimes when I can't sleep. I do a few tai chi exercises, concentrating on slow, deep breathing. It's a sure cure for stress.

Wensam, I know what you mean about the buzz. I've had many a night when I can't escape it and doing those few gentle exercises helps focus the mind away from it. I once worked in an office that was lit only by flourescent lights and that played havoc with my sleep patterns. I'd go home, turn on a soft table light or light a candle so that I could relax.

Thanks for the advice Desdichado. We have tried out alternative light sources at work. Some say it makes a difference others say not. They have had blue filters fitted to the flourescent lights, but the buzz, can still be very stressful for some individuals and many members of staff agree. I always have the lights off in class as they end up hurting my eyes. I like the windows open too. People at work used to think I was a walking paranormal experience because of the no lights and open windows thing. Now it is quite common amongst staff to do this.

The mainstream seems to be doing its bit to promote - if that's the right word - the case for the premise that not all paranormal activity can be explained by science. Here, there's a weekly TV show called "The Dead Files" which isn't bad. It involves a medium and a retired police detective who investigate "haunted" places with some remarkable success.

The ex-copper does all teh background research (archival searches and suchlike) whilst the medium actually visits the property and records her impressions. At the end of the show, they meet up and compare findings. OK, it may be contrived and well-edited, but I get the impression that they are serious about their work and that some of the stuff they uncover convinces me that they really have made contact.

There's another show called "Ghost Adventures" that involves three blokes in Goth gear who are "locked down" in haunted buildings for a night. They use all manner of hi-tech gear from thermal imaging, MEL-meters, EVP, and other such stuff. It's all a bit too glib for me but others may enjoy it. I don't know if they've done enough to convince me that they're all they claim to be but for mainstream TV, it's a step in the right direction.

Here is an interesting debate (with some experiments), two people discussing "mind over matter". Looks early 70's, and the interviewer is Tony Bastable - I remember him from the old Magpie shows! (URL)

Really enjoyed this 1hr 26min documentary. As well as Scole, the documentary goes to Italy where a medium uses a radio as a means of the Spirits communicating! Fascinating!

Where we live its very active paranormal wise and we are conducting our own experiments.

Yes, it is an interesting documentary on the "afterlife" (been on before). It was a pity they all split up afterwards and not continue with the experiments...

Have seen this and found it fascinating too. Would love to conduct an experiment like this. I am planning to go to Mary King's close in Edinburgh to see what I can pick up on again. I have been once before and something was trying to strangle me- picked up on other things too. This time I want to talk to them!!

@ wensam - I featured this video on my blog The Scole Experiment - Haunted Island Really enjoyed watch the documentary, was fascinating.

On the subjects of Ghosts / Afterlife my partner works in a nursing home, which the building and grounds dates back to the 15/16th Century, some of the stories I have heard from those whom work their is just chilling!!!.

Ghosts walking though locked and secured door ways, poltergeist activity, disconnected lights illuminating, alarms and bells ringing in the dead of night, reports of religious figures/entities being seen standing over residents who subsequently passing away shortly after ... the list goes on!

I had a large glass of Baileys last night after stress of getting kids to their grandfather's funeral, then getting load of shopping for daughter, who is stuck miles away from shops & in middle of lambing, getting soaked twice then driving an hour up flooded/muddly roads to find bloody road closed within 3 miles of her cottage, (no warnings during 20 miles before that), so had to drive an extra 15 miles around. Not best amused I can tell you. Same on way back.
Soooooooooooo..... had glass before bed, slept very well, but woke up feeling worse after 10 hrs. Got sore throat, shivers, sneezing, etc, so double dosed on Ionic Silver, vitamins, eaten fresh fruit for breakfast & lunch to boost Vit. C, & having B-B-Q spare ribs for dinner. Spare ribs not ideal diet, but who cares? Will enjoy them. Feel better even thinking about them, lol.

Talking of paranormal, over the past 3 nights I have had a beautiful smell of flowers arrive in my living room, dont know where or whom from, but............ pleasang vibes.

Careful with that one- not all people react the same way. I used to get hyper- racing thoughts- miss that!!
