A site that records meteors and fireballs from around the world.

You may find something of interest in other parts of this site. The mystery section is good.

Should be a good night to film any Ufo activity one comes across seeing as so many people will be looking up into the sky, and everyone has a camera on his phone these days, so it seems.

I'm all geared up. Flask of cocoa, biscuits, parka, binoculars and a camera. Been looking forward to this. I haven't got a smart phone. I refuse to have one. My mobile is an old flip phone. It has a camera but not a very good one.

Thick cloud last night and forecast again for tonight, clearing up at about 21:00. Couldn't even see the stars last night and went to bed at about 12:30. Last night was the first cloudy night we've had since late June. Today is the first day it has rained since March or April. Typical.

For what it's worth, here is my fantastic picture I took of the Moon last night (with clouds - do I get first prize)?

Bloody typical,a rare astronomical event takes place and virtually the whole of England is clouded out. Same forecast for tomorrow.

Good job Joe. Looks like about 7 or 8/10 cloud. It's getting clear here now (about 18:20) and the sky in the SSE is very bright. Going out in about 10 or 15 minutes.

My little digital (Pentax Optio E85) won't take a great picture of the moon. The best I can get is a white dot over the rooftop. I can do much better with my old Pentax Spotmatic 35mm. The telephoto lens does a really good job.

Joe, what equipment are you using?

It is just a small pocket "Canon" camera (PowerShot A810). I will have another go and hopefully I will get a much clearer picture tonight of the Moon.

My little Pentax Optio doesn't have much of a zoom feature. It can do wide angle but that's it. I thought about investing in a digital SLR but for the amount of picture taking I do, I can't justify the cost to the missus, who keeps tight hold of the purse strings.

I was going to have another go tonight at taking a picture of the Moon, but tonight is even far worse than last night, the cloud is so dense, and the Moon is now completely hidden. Every time I get ready for a celestial event, cloud always seems to spoil the occasion - it's like something is doing this on purpose! I'm glad I'm not a great enthusiast with expensive equipment, otherwise I'm sure I would be very disappointed.
