America is experiencing its coldest summer since records began. My two weeks in the Lakes were not exactly balmy.

When the global warming guys did their computer models they were told they could not factor in the sun. Those who refused were kicked out, the others took the money and gave us what the carbonazi's wanted. Another reason to take more money from us.

Looks like we are going to need that money to pay for the extra heating, providing we do not starve first.

There is a treasure trove of information about the apollo space program on this site.

I always wondered, that if the lunar landings were faked, the Russian would know and blow the whistle. So if it was faked why did'nt they?

I've head that Russia and the USA are in collaboration over this matter, only the ordinary citizens do not know what is going on...

People need to get away from this patriotic way of thinking; we should not be followers towards some hierargy, patriotism keeps you in a little box. Every one is mistreated badly in their own country, there is nothing to feel patriotic about - when we hear a country is doing this or that to another country, we are talking about the governments of those countries. Governments around the world are not representative of the people (look at the civil fighting, which goes on within countries around the world); only the establishment know what is going on (the people are continuously lied to).

Russia could hardly blow the whistle when their own space programme was largely constructed from exagerations and untruths.
See "a funny thing happened on the way to the moon" for a view on how Gagarin was removed from the capsule before becoming the first man in space.

Russia could hardly blow the whistle when their own space programme was largely constructed from exagerations and untruths.

And the quote below is from a Russian on the corruption of his own country:

"MOSCOW More than 200 years ago, the renowned Russian historian Nikolai Karamzin summed up the situation in his country in two words: "They steal."

They still do, and the news in Russia lately has been dominated by one high-profile corruption scandal after another. Allegations of wrongdoing have reached high into the defense and agriculture ministries and the Russian space program, among other institutions. Nearly nine in 10 Russians say corruption is the nation's biggest problem.

The spate of corruption cases has led to a cynical argument among politicians, analysts and people on the street: Has President Vladimir Putin, who has long talked about combating corruption, finally turned from words to deeds? Or is the apparent crackdown a mere public relations gambit or, worse, a sign of behind-the-scenes warfare among powerful interests close to the Kremlin?

It may not matter much to Feofan Bondarenko, a pioneering businessman who applauds Putin's apparent campaign against corruption as it plays out almost daily in newspaper headlines about leading Kremlin figures. Closer to home, corruption remains a fact of everyday life."

Thanks skipman. She's right about the lack of plasma talk. Most people have not heard of the electric universe theory; that, s cause someone might discover a rival source of energy production, we can't have that now, can we....

The UK will experience a partial solar eclipse on Friday 20th March. Most of England, Wales and Ireland will see up to 89% totality. Scotland will see 90% or more. The farther north you are, the greater will be the coverage of the sun by the moon and the better the eclipse. If you're in the Faroes it will be a total eclipse.

The Radio Society of Great Britain wants as many people as possible (not just radio amateurs or hams) to take part in an experiment to see how solar activity affects the upper atmosphere.

All you need is a medium wave ("AM") radio and a note pad.

Details here http://rsgb.org/main/blog/news/gb2rs/headlines/2015/02/13/amateur-experiments-solar-e clipse/

There is a PDF document available from the link which you could print out and possibly have schools take part in the experiment as it will occur between about 08:30 and 10:30. For "lesson continuity" I'd suggest doing the initial listen the previous Friday.

March 20th is also the Vernal Equinox (equal amounts of day and night) - the first day of Spring.

This is a link to show how the eclipse will appear at your location. Enter your city: http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/solar/2015-march-20

"RIGHT! Who's up for a Richplanet Forum expedition to Devon Island?"

If I have a choice of going on a non-return journey to Mars or Devon Island, then I have changed my mind, I will take up your first offer, and go to Devon Island - at least I will be on Earth.

If you PAY to go to Mars you'll probably still be on earth only light of several hundred thousand and dead to make sure you keep quiet.

As I say from time to time, I'm not a cynic. I just don't trust the heirachy where food, housing, working conditions, health, wealth and happiness are concerned - among others. (Especially WEALTH.)

Hagbard was referring to a "Mars to Stay" mission one day on his website. I personally would not want to go on such a mission. Hagbard earlier on suggested a group of us going to Devon Island (another place I do not relish), but at least Devon Island is the less of two evils.

Snippet from Hagbard's website:

"...Mars to Stay" is a mission concept of a manned landing on Mars with no return journey included. Astronauts on a Mars to Stay mission would be heading to Mars to live there indefinitely, to build a permanent human settlement on the planet and make it their home, possibly for the rest of their lives..."

Here is one for Kozmic.

NASA to Grow Marijuana on the Moon

"MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. Officials at NASA's Ames Research Center in California today announced plans to cultivate and grow marijuana on the surface of the moon. The news came on the heels of an earlier announcement regarding NASA's plan to put a garden on the moon in 2015 consisting of cress, basil, and turnips.

"The decision to grow marijuana on the lunar surface was a no-brainer," said Ames Deputy Director Lewis S. G. Braxton III. "NASA is always in need of funding, and weed is a serious cash crop. Plus, this way, future lunar colonists will have a fresh supply at their disposal, because let's face it, things are going to be pretty boring up there for a while."

The marijuana will be shipped to the moon in much the same way the original garden is expected to arrive in 2015, as payload on an unmanned Google X-Prize mission.

"[A] first step in long term presence [on the Moon] is to send plants," read the proposal. "As seedlings, they can be as sensitive as humans to environmental conditions, sometimes even more so. Once the turnips and whatnot grow, giving us proof of concept, we'll send up the pot and get things humming."

Deputy Director Braxton acknowledged the psychological benefits of growing marijuana on the moon. Previous experiments on the International Space Station and in Antarctica have demonstrated that the presence and maintenance of plant life provides psychological comfort to isolated people. "And when the same people were baked, they were even happier," he explained."
