The moonstone which was showed in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam for years appears to be fake.
Geologists from the Free University have examined the rock and concluded that it is just a piece of
petrified wood.

I read this in the "MAIL" MB How I laughed !!! Wonderful story!!

Embarrassment as 'moon rock' in museum turns out to be just a piece of petrified wood

fake moonrock

It's not green cheese, but it might as well be.

The Dutch national museum said today that one of its most prized possessions, a rock supposedly brought back from the moon by U.S. astronauts, is just a piece of petrified wood.

In an investigation into the piece, a space expert told the Rijksmuseum it was unlikely NASA would have given away any moon rock so soon after Apollo returned to Earth.

Rijksmuseum spokeswoman Xandra van Gelder, said the museum will keep the relic as a curiosity.

'It's a good story, with some questions that are still unanswered,' she said. 'We can laugh about it.'

The museum acquired the rock after the death of former prime minister Willem Dreesman in 1988.

Dreesman received it as a private gift in 1969 from then-U.S. ambassador J. William Middendorf who accompanied the Apollo 11 astronauts on a visit to The Netherlands after the first moon landing.

Mr Middendorf told how the rock came from the U.S. State Department, but couldn't recall the exact details.

'Apparently no one thought to doubt it, since it came from the prime minister's collection,' Ms Van Gelder said.

The rock is not usually on display at the museum, which is primarily known for fine art by masters including Rembrandt.

'It's a nondescript, pretty-much-worthless stone,' said Geologist Frank Beunk from Amsterdam's Free University. He said he could see at a glance the rock was not from the moon.

Richard C. Hoagland commented on NASA's upcoming Moon crash mission. He believes there's an occupied base on the moon (set up by the secret
space program), and the planned explosion could disclose or reveal its existence. The collision will also cause a bigger plume than expected, as well as a
large amount of water coming out of the impact site, he suggested.

If the moon was solid, the Earth`s gravitational field would not be able to hold it.
It must be hollow.
AND science agrees for a change !
Think about it. The size in relation to the Earth and the Sun. The distance from
the Earth.
It`s a hollowed out or partially hollow planetoid.

Well it is moving away from us at about 3.8cm a year and that also means that the Earth will eventually stop spinning (you wouldn`t want to be here then) Luckily the Sun will have long since cooked us all, so no worries...

Can anybody throw any more light on the reports that the moon's centre of gravity is 57 miles offset from its georaphic centre. I think I picked it up from the John Lear interview. He also claimed that the moon was towed into position.
Are there too many coincidences for our goldilocks zone to be a stroke of luck?
What about if the universe is infinate it would indicate that anything is probable.
