More than 310 Iraqi scientists are thought to have perished at the hands of Israeli secret agents in Iraq since fall of Baghdad to US troops in April 2003, a seminar has found.
How about before 2003? Project Babylon was a project funded by Saddam (and who knows who else) to build 'superguns', which were enormous artillery pieces that could lob projectiles over hundreds of miles. The Iraqis hired a artillery specialist; a Canadian named Gerald Bull whose goal was to develop a gun of such size and velocity that it could put a projectile (shell) into orbit though the stated aim was to launch space satellites in that fashion. Bull was working on the project in 1990 and was at his home in Brussels when someone fired five bullets into his head. The assassin was never caught, though suspicion immediately fell on the Israelis. Funnily enough, after Desert Storm, the Brits got hold of the supergun and shipped it back to the UK. Well, we made the parts in the first place. Only fair we should get them back, what?
